DIY SOS put out call for volunteers
The TV show ‘DIY SOS Trades Day’ event is next week on Wednesday 8 June. This year the show hopes to galvanise support from business and volunteer trades for a BBC Children in Need special.
The event will take place in Blackpool, where the show hopes to tackle one of its most ambitious projects to date by transforming a young carer’s centre from a run-down, neglected Victorian house to a fun, safe and supportive environment where young carers can enjoy themselves and relax.
This year the project will be designed by Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen, who was himself a young carer. To achieve its ambitions the programme is seeking donations of materials as well as help from tradespeople including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, plasterers, decorators and landscape gardeners who may be able to offer support.
Anyone interested can get attend the Trades Day event (held ahead of the main build) to assess the task at hand and see if they can contribute by offering their time or by donating materials. Build manager, Mark Millar is hosting an all-day event on Wednesday 8 June at Blenheim House, Blackpool.
The main build dates are from Tuesday 28 June until Thursday 7 July. Those interested should email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
