Leaping into the new decade with record turnover growth
An award-winning Newcastle-based Drain Doctor has leaped into the new decade by celebrating a significant milestone with its biggest turnover to date of over £1 million for 2019, an increase of around 20% from the previous year.
Since taking over the business just over four years ago, Jim Watson has made it one of the most successful franchises in the Drain Doctor network of over 57 nationwide locations. Growing at a yearly rate of 25%, Jim has also increased staff numbers by 20% and now has a team of 12 technicians – two of whom are apprentices, four support staff and nine branded vans offering a 24-7-365 days a year service to both commercial and domestic customers across Newcastle, Northumberland, Sunderland and Durham.
Jim’s employees are his company’s most important assets and he has invested heavily in their training and professional development over the years. In addition to recruiting drainage and plumbing experts, Jim also believes in diversity and creating opportunities for local people and allowing them to develop as individuals, even those with less of a structure in their life. This has fostered both loyalty and resulted in a motivated and productive workforce, with the longest serving member having been there since 2016.
