Local entrepreneur insures premium drainage service to Bradford
(09/04/2020) – With over a decade of experience in the insurance industry, local Bradford born and bred Benjamin Binns will swap his life of claims for a new drainage and plumbing franchise business, Drain Doctor®, covering Bradford and its surrounding area.
The new office, which is based in Bradford is ready to start trading from 16 April. Benjamin will be joined by qualified technician with over eight years of experience in drainage, plumbing, legionella control, and a Drain Doctor branded van fully equipped with high-pressure water jetting units and CCTV drain survey equipment.
Prior to becoming a new franchise owner, Benjamin spent more than eight years working for the Direct Line Group as a loss adjustor, forming part of a multi-award-winning team and later managing teams of claims handlers and saving millions of pounds in costs. A member of the Chartered Institute of Insurers and British Damage Management Association, Benjamin has also recently achieved a Diploma in insurance with distinctions in insurance law, business and finance.
In 2015, Benjamin almost lost his life due to a cardiac tamponade, which left him with a newfound determination to take control of his destiny. He defied the odds and recovered from this serious medical condition, giving him a second opportunity at life and fulfilling his lifelong dream of running his own business. He began extensively researching franchise opportunities in his area, and after hearing about Drain Doctor, he was sold.

Over 200 eggs and other gifts were raised as part of his recent social media campaign in a bid to help the hospitals children’s wards be a happier place this Easter. To further show his love for the hospital that kept him alive, he is also looking to donate PPE equipment including face masks and gloves for the NHS staff currently coping with the Covid19 outbreak.
When Benjamin’s not busy repairing a drain or fixing a leak for Drain Doctor, he enjoys playing and captaining a football team for his local Leeds club (Calverley United). He is also a keen carp angler with a love of the outdoors. He is married and lives in the City of Bradford.
